A Message from the Center’s Board of Directors:

Currently, only volunteers are trying to keep the Center open and restore the services it provided before, including Meals on Wheels. But we did want you to know of a program called Mom's Meals which could provide you with nutritionally balanced, prepared meals which you would only have to heat up.

Fourteen meals at a time are delivered directly to your home by van or by UPS.  You can choose the meals you would like from hundreds of menu items.  The meals can be refrigerated for up to 14 days.  You will also receive 14 half-pints of milk with your meals.

Individuals are asked to contribute to the cost of the service based on their monthly income.  Individuals with low income may be eligible to have this service covered by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. If you are 60 years of age or older or disabled, you can qualify for receiving these meals in several different ways:

     1) Medicaid, Medicaid Waiver and Older American Act Recipients - you can contact your Care Manager, Independent Living Advisor, or Services Coordinator at the at the Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging at 1-402-370-3454 or

1-800-672-8368 or the League of Human Dignity at 1-402-371-4475.

     2) Some Medicare Advantage Beneficiaries - You may be eligible under this plan but call the number on the back of your insurance card to determine if this is a service they pay for.

     3) If you receive Medicaid or are slightly above income eligibility for Medicaid,   you may be eligible under the Social Service Aged Disabled (SSAD) Block Grant Program.   You can check this out by calling the Economic Assistance number

1-800-383-4278 at AccessNebraska (Department of Health and Human Services).

A self-pay program is available for those without an eligible health plan or who don’t qualify for government assistance, but still want the convenience of home-delivered meals for themselves or a loved one.  This program offers nine health-condition menus with a variety of meal options. You choose every meal, every delivery.   Affordable at only $7.99/meal.
**Renal-friendly, Pureed and Gluten Free $8.99/meal. A Flat rate shipping fee also applies.

South Sioux City Senior Center will notify you when the program is available through them once again.
